Hi
I am new here and was just reading through some interesting posts about Sabbath ettiquette. I have a question for anyone who might be interested. I have been sda since about 1996. I am a nurse and am currently working at a hospital every weekend. I have been doing this for 2 years, so that I am able to take homeschool my son and take on foster children if needed. At the time I took this job, my husband and I both prayed about it and we felt that this was the way to go, and my son was having problems at school (and sda school actually). I attend bible study as a way for me to welcome in the Sabbath on Friday nights. I miss going to church but I feel that God has really blessed me at this job as well. And am at a crossroads about what to do--should I continue or find other work? I have prayed about it and left if in God's hands, and I feel impressed to get other opinions. Any comments??? Thanks and Happy Sabbath!
Marie

Dear Marie,

Adventist pastors work on the Sabbath. Aren't you a medical missionary? It would be a very cruel witness against hurting people if hospitals were closed on Saturdays. Didn't Jesus put Himself in danger by going against tradition and healing on the Sabbath? See Matthew 12:9-14.

Was it a Sabbath day medical emergency for Jesus to heal the man with the withered hand? I don't think so.
