Hi! I am Sunrunner. I am a pretty traditional Seventh-day Adventist. I'm not a fan of the Liberal movement growing in the Church, as I attend a very Conservative, pro-EGW congregation. I have the occasional Progressive streak (not theologically, but socially and politically, such as my opposition to the top-heavy GC structure and viewing EGW as infallible). I'm here mainly to perhaps learn a thing or two, and to support those who seek biblical Adventist reform. Smile

My question to Mr. Shubert: Do you associate yourself with the "Historic Adventist" movement?

I identify myself with the Millerite Movement and the resulting Adventist Movement but not with the present-day movement that calls itself "Historic Adventism". I stand for The Manifesto of Reform-Minded Seventh-Day Adventists, not the belief that we should believe exactly what the pioneers believed, because they allegedly are closer to God than any of us and know Scripture better than we do.

You have come to a true Reform site. Ellen White never encouraged anyone to believe that she was infallible and reproved individuals for using her writings to resolve disputes in Scripture.

That is good to hear. I cherish the End Time and lifestyle counsel that Mrs. White has been given by the Lord, but I am weary of the overzealous nature of some Historic Adventists regarding her writings.

I hold to all of the traditional foundations of the Church like the Investigative Judgment, and I believe that though increasing light will pour down from Heaven, true light will not conflict with the teachings God has given us, but will instead expand or clarify our roots.

Do you believe in Righteousness by Faith?

Yes. Christ our Righteousness is the gospel, to be received by faith. If you love the gospel, then I strongly encourage you to read The Gospel According to Jesus by John F. MacArthur Jr. I think it's a wonderfully clear exposition of the gospel for Adventists and everyone else. It's easy for anyone to believe that they understand the gospel. This book exposes the major reasons for the convoluted controversy surrounding the gospel in the Christian Church (Desmond Ford, Geoffrey J. Paxton, Zane Hodges, etc) and makes the subject clear.

Yep, I believe in Righteousness by Faith. It is one of the most precious beliefs we should cherish, in my mind.

Howdy Sunrunner, I see you made it over this way. I haven't posted here much recently, but I find Eugene has some interesting information here.

God bless
