What’s a Muslim? Is Osama bin Laden a Muslim? What’s the distinction between a true Muslim and a mere professing Muslim?

Islam began with the beginning of the Prophet's mission, when Jibraa'eel (the Archangel Gabriel) brought down the Revelation from Allaah in Makkah (Mecca) in the Arabian Peninsula. This occurred on a Monday in the month of Ramadaan, in the fortieth year of the Prophet Muhammad's (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) life, thirteen years before his Hijrah (migration) to Madeenah (which marks the beginning of the Islamic or Hijri calendar). According to the Gregorian calendar, the beginning of the Prophetic mission happened around 608 or 609 CE. Salmaan al-Farsi, may Allaah be pleased with him, one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) reported that between Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and Jesus (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), there were six hundred years.

And Allaah knows best.

who do the Muslims worship?

If osama bin laden is a Muslim, then I’d say—in answer to your question—that many Muslims worship an unholy god who delights in ignorance, intolerance, oppression, murder and revenge. As proof of the great evils of Islam, take a look at the Islamic government of Sudan and their holy war to exterminate blameless Christians in Southern Sudan.

Correct. Christians are not Nazis but many pseudo-Christians may be.

That is not what this forum teaches. See www.everythingimportant.org/Godhead for a list of our beliefs about Jesus and God.

if the son of god was die as u r say

excuse me this is naivety

You are right. Divinity cannot die. The humanity of Jesus died.

shhh...
shalom and salam

No, us Christians are not right (true) polite 1234.

What we believe is that Jesus Christ is and in Him we can be.

Hitler actually practiced the occult. He worshiped Satan and this is well documented.

Crusaders however did kill in the name of Jesus (and were wrong) but thought themselves as right.
Early Christian Americans would go to church and worship on Sunday and then mistreat their slaves thorughout the week (and were wrong) but thought themselves as right.
The president of the United States today wages war against other nations and says, evil doers must die and calls himself a Christian but he too is wrong. It's not written that this is right (or is what our Lord Jesus Christ commands who says we should not pull up the weeds but wait until the end when the Lord of the harvest does).
In fact, no man is right EVER (not since they were cast out of paradise)without Jesus Christ polite 1234.
Every nation on Earth today with their laws stands condemned in the End and every man with his own judgment of right and wrong.
Only those who call on His blood for forgiveness of sin will be cleansed and have eternal life in the End. As you can see there are many false Chrsitians, they call for (inner) peace but provoke anger through judgment on their brothers.
Eugene, you should know what our Lord has said, let the one without sin throw the first stone. So, do not judge so harshly to avoid His wrath on you in the end. We are called to love and in true love, evil is conquered but in killing a man nothing is gained because they ALL belong to the Lord
and this task belongs to Him alone. So we should pray that they ALL see His way above theirs and ours and if we die in the process then, we gain when we find our true life in Him, in the place He has prepared for us.

Strictly speaking a Muslim is an adherent of the Islamic faith. Go to http://members.optusnet.com.au/~malan2000 and follow the Islam and Terrorism link. It will take about ten minutes to read and is a reasonably full synopsis of Islam, Mohammed and their history.

WillieH: Hello Eugene.. (ahh to come face to face with the "top dog" here!)

To stand in judgement of Osama, or any other Muslim is to place yourself in THAT SEAT... It is better to remain silent, and let GOD be His JUDGE, and let Him settle the eternal matters... As opposed to CONDEMNING another... We are instructed to forgive... Osama is in need of this as any..

Just a heads up... GOD determines when ANY life ends here! No one can pass one minute, or one second before, OR AFTER, ...His/her predestinated time... One cannot die in any other way then has been decided by GOD.. If He has decided YOU will die in a car crash at 5pm July 20,2010.. there is NO POSSIBILITY that you can die in any other way at any other time.. No Tsunami's, No murder.. No heart attacks, No nuclear wars.. NO NO NO! He is COMPLETELY in Control of EVERYTHING! That is what this life is all about! That HIS WILL be done in EARTH as it IS in HEAVEN! He is SOVERIGN.. Nothing catches Him by surprise! He does not have to resort to "Plan B"! ALL things were created by Him and For Him! ALL THINGS! How many does that leave out Eugene?

In the OT (I have read, but cant recall the exact place - I will however endeavor to locate it), GOD ordered the extemination of the inhabitants... Do you JUDGE Him for this? Or do you just respect GOD's actions out of FEAR, and then place Osama in a separate category for doing virtually the same thing?

(Don't get me wrong, I do NOT endorse Osama's evil actions, but they could not take place to the degree they have, unless the ALMIGHTY has decided they would. See the book of Job and read of His plight... The Lord actually was the one that dictated the degree that the evil events of this story would go ["hast thou considered my SERVANT Job?" - Job 1:8], the devil just OBLIGED, and was only allowed to take things as far as YHWH decided!)

Osama and "Holy zealots" such as he, falsely think they are doing God service, when in actuality they are instruments of the Devil... As are many "Christians"! Maybe they aren't "terrorizing" others, but they "destroy" others with their misplaced and misguided words... However, GOD always uses EVIL and makes its momentary existence bring forth GOOD... example.. the torment and crucifiction of our SAVIOR.. this was horribly evil, but its destiny was the completion and finished work of SALVATION for the reconciliation of man to his CREATOR..

Don't you realize that ALL Humanity has gone there? (as Osama has?) You and I were enemies of the Cross before we were called! ALL MEN will one day hear His voice for it is written.. "Who hath RESISTED His WILL?" (Rom 9:19)

"Every knee shall bow and EVERY tongue CONFESS that JESUS CHRIST is LORD to the Glory of God the Father" (Rom 14:11 / Is 45:23) such confession is only possible by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT...

And He is NOT WILLING that ANY should PERISH but that ALL should come to REPENTENCE" (2 Pet 3:9) Smile

When a Tsunami or Earthquake or Tornado or Hurricane strike, and Human deaths mount up, ...who is responsible? Mother Nature? Confused

I say NO!...YHWH is the one that makes the call.. As He does in ALL HUMAN DEATH... For if YHWH decides one lives... ONE LIVES! Death has no opportunity unless HE HIMSELF grants this and decides it is time... He has decided your time, my time and ALL others...

Muslims, Shintoists, Buddhists, Jews, Catholics, Protestants, ....it does not matter what RELIGIONS ...MAN creates... "...GOD our SAVIOR who WILL HAVE ALL MEN to be SAVED and to come to the KNOWLEDGE of the TRUTH.." (1 Tim 2:3/4)

So Eugene, if you haven't already, ...give up the religion and DISDAIN the pious place of JUDGEMENT, which is NOT the place any of us are worthy of.. For JUDGEMENT has been committed to the SON,
\
...and come to that ONE that gave His life for ALL, that IN FAITH you may pray for ALL... for if you do NOT believe that ALL shall be saved... you cannot in FAITH, ...pray for their SALVATION... You thereby LIMIT GOD and limit YOURSELF... And in the process become a RESPECTER of PERSONS... within that, ...you make yourself UNLIKE the GOD you aspire to Worship... for HE is NOT a RESPECTER of PERSONS... But LOVES ALL ...EQUALLY..

In JESUS, ....WillieH

Firstly, my apologies WillieH, but it's difficult for me to read your post when some words are capitalized like that. Also, just so you know, general forum practise states that entire words in capitals, unless an acronym of sorts, constitutes yelling. In which case, I believe you could make your point more solidly if you did not yell so much.

I am not Muslim, but I believe I can answer your question anyways. I have been living around peaceful Muslims who believe in the Prophet (Mohammed) and do no harm to those around them.

Firstly, yes Osama bin Laden is Muslim, in the same way that the KKK are Christian. Just because one professes to believe in the Qu'ran does not mean that they indeed follow its every word. I believe the principal of "eye for an eye" is well established in the Qu'ran, but bin Laden takes this principal way too far. He believes, in a lot of ways, that the West has already committed great crimes against humanity, and thus he wants to punish them citing "an eye for an eye" as his premise.

Also, in light of this principal of justified retaliation, Muslims are indeed a more violent people than, for example, the modern Europeans (in general). Their society does support capital punishment for crimes specifically forbidden in the Qu'ran. With this in mind, there is also a lot of love for other Muslims. Specifically towards the ones who practise their faith and perform peaceful (sometimes completely internal) protests. There is a bond between them that most Europeans and North Americans cannot profess to have. This is why they are often so resolute in their actions.

In summary:
A) Muslims have a legitimate stake in the world just as everyone else.
B) Osama bin Laden is a criminal with immense power, citing the Qu'ran under false pretenses as justification of his doings.
C) As much as we would like to relate them, the two concepts are not related.

WillieH: Hi Romistrub... peace...

Firstly... I do not use capital letters to YELL... I use them for EMPHASIS...

Secondly... you are not answering a question that I had... it was from a quote of another named "Polite1234"...

My post, if you read it, is concerned with ABSTAINING from such JUDGEMENTS as used by resident Pharisee Eugene Shubert...

We must live the LIFE of Christ... and HIS LIFE ...IS All about... FORGIVENESS... not CONDEMNATION...

God sent His Son NOT to CONDEMN...

He asked us TO FORGIVE... will He not do the same?
