And Hannah prayed and said: "My heart rejoices in the LORD; My horn is exalted in the LORD. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation. "No one is holy like the LORD, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. "Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the LORD is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed. "The bows of the mighty men are broken, And those who stumbled are girded with strength. Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, And the hungry have ceased to hunger. Even the barren has borne seven, And she who has many children has become feeble. 1 Samuel 2:1-5

Have you ever been in a situation that seemed totally barren or hopeless? Have you ever felt like giving up on yourself, your family or your impossible situation? Let’s take a look at the life of Hannah and find out what she did in the midst of her adverse circumstances. Let’s find out what caused this woman of God to receive a mighty breakthrough.
Now there was a certain man named Elkanah who had two wives; the name of one was Hannah and the other was Peninnah. Peninnah had children while Hannah had none. This caused much grief and disappointment to Hannah as she desperately wanted to have a male child, but the Lord had closed her womb.

Elkanah was very faithful to take his family to the city of Shiloh every year for the purpose of worshipping and offering sacrifices to the Lord of hosts. When it was time for Elkanah to make an offering to the Lord, he would give portions to Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters, but to Hannah he would give a double portion, because he loved her.
Peninnah was one who liked to provoke Hannah because of her barrenness. She enjoyed making Hannah’s life miserable and as a result of her continuous scoffing, Hannah wept much and refused to eat or drink at the table. Her husband could not understand what she was going through emotionally and once said to her, “Am I not better to you than ten sons?” Not realizing what he was saying, he just made matters worse.
So Hannah arose from the table and positioned herself before the Lord in prayer. Being in great anguish of soul, she wept bitterly before the Lord until she could weep no more. Her prayers were like sweet incense before the Lord as she set her face like flint in pursuit of Him for her breakthrough miracle.

I believe it’s time for some of you to position yourself before the Lord in prayer for your breakthrough miracle. Some of you are on the verge of breakthrough. You can’t quit now! You’ve come too far to turn back. Keep pressing in and pursuing God!

As Eli the priest watched her from the doorpost of the tabernacle, Hannah made a vow to the Lord of hosts. She was a woman determined in her spirit to see a manifestation of her heart’s desire come to pass. She was tired of Peninnah’s constant chiding and provoking. She was fed up with her barrenness and made a choice to continue in hot pursuit of the Lord and His purpose for her life. Her desire for a man child caused her to persevere in prayer and faith believing.

Has the enemy been lying to you and provoking you because of your hopeless situation? Has he told you that you will never come out of this situation victorious? Has he told you that you will never have children because of your barren condition? I urge you today by the Spirit of God to stop listening to the lies of the devil and get on with your life. The Lord of hosts wants to pour out His blessings upon you if you will just learn how to position yourself before Him so that you can receive those blessings. The bible records:

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, "O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head."1 Samuel 1:10-11

Eli the priest thought Hannah was drunk, but Hannah let him know otherwise. Her reply to Eli’s false accusation was this, “I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.”

Have you been falsely accused of wrong doing? Satan’s accusers are strategically placed in every church and ministry. We must not allow the false accusations of man to get us down. We must instead learn to set our faces like flint to pursue God in the midst of these humiliating accusations and press on toward the victory that God has ordained for us.

Eli probably felt like a fool as he kindly responded to Hannah, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.”

This was all Hannah needed to break that spirit of oppression and hopelessness over her soul. She received the blessing that Eli spoke over her and went on her way rejoicing in the Lord. With a whole new outlook on her situation, she went back to the table and celebrated by eating and drinking her rightful portion. She knew in her spirit that God would bring the needed breakthrough. It was now just a matter of time.
It’s amazing how God can take a hopeless situation and turn it into a time of great rejoicing. One word from God can change your whole outlook on life.

Hannah eventually conceived and gave birth to a son whom she called Samuel. She remained faithful in her vow to the Lord and was so grateful for all that the Lord had done for her. She was no longer barren, but fruitful. She was no longer a sorrowful woman, but a woman filled with great joy.

The Lord has a way of silencing our accusers. He has a way of bringing His people through difficult circumstances and situations. That “way” is staying in hot pursuit of Him. When we pursue God with of all of our hearts and minds, He will be faithful to grant us the petitions that we have requested of Him.

The Church of Jesus Christ has stepped into a new season. God has prepared a company of people with an anointing to breakthrough into the God-ordained destiny for their lives as well as for cities and nations. Many of these people are the most unlikely in the natural to be chosen by the Lord. How He loves to take the least likely and demonstrate His ability through them!

David in the Bible was one of the unlikely people God used to accomplish great breakthroughs. David came forth at a time when the Lord was transitioning His people from an old religious order (Eli) to a fresh new move of His Spirit (David). Whenever God brings His people to a major intersection in history, He always raises up prophets to declare the new move of God. The prophet Samuel stood at a major intersection in history and poured the anointing oil on young David. He declared a new authority was arising to defeat the powers of the enemy and release the will of God in the earth. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward (1 Sam. 16:13).

David received his first anointing in the midst of his own brothers. In an obscure place God chose an unlikely individual to accomplish great Kingdom exploits (Dan. 11:32). Those close to David didn’t embrace the anointing on David’s life. As it was in David’s life, there are people who have known you in the old season. Some of them will try to keep you in an old place. They want you to do the same things you did in the old season. They enjoy your company. However, there is a problem – they don’t want to go where you are going.

After David received his first anointing, he came face to face with the giant Goliath. The enemy loves to challenge the new anointing in your life. He doesn’t want you to move forward. However, war was not new to David. He had defeated the lion and the bear during the old season. Now he faced the enemy that was resisting David’s destiny. An incredible courage rose up in David as he asked the question, “Is there not a cause?” (1Sam. 17:29).

David was not in the battle for his own benefit. He realized there was a cause at stake – the advancement of God’s Kingdom in the earth. Those who will be part of the Davidic Company God is raising up in this hour must be free from fears and selfish interests. It is a time when fears must be replaced with great courage! During this time, we must deal with insecurities, intimidation, limitations, and jealous spirits. All of these are designed to keep this Davidic Company from God’s destiny.

After David’s first anointing, he ended up in a place where the seed of his destiny came to death. So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father’s household heard of it, they went down there to him (1 Sam. 22:1). Adullam was a place of darkness, obscurity and confusion. God’s future generals often find themselves in obscure places. However, in the dark place of Adullam, David found a place of prayer. As the seed of destiny dies, we learn that God is our only hope. In our times of weakness, the Lord becomes our strength (1 Cor. 12:9).

During David’s hour of unpopularity, he discovered who the people were that would stand with him. Real friends are committed to you in the good times and the hard times. Only those who have true heart connections will stand with you in difficult days. The Body of Christ is in a time when we will know those whose hearts are knitted to our hearts.

God gathered around David those who were discontented, discouraged, and those in debt (1 Sam. 22:2). From a small number of unlikely people, God brought forth from the cave a powerful army of 340,000 recruits! The hidden place became a place of multiplication. Today, God is assembling His army. God’s Army is made up of those generals who have been in a hidden place in the last season. Their hearts have been knitted together to see King Jesus exalted in the earth. They have come forth with the anointing at Judah. David received his second anointing at Judah. Judah means praise. Praise will be a key to victory this year.

The seed of destiny in these lives that seemed dead is coming forth now in resurrection life and power! David received his third anointing at Hebron. Hebron was a place of alliance. It was the place of making commitments, entering relationships and cutting covenants. As a result of these alliances, David and his army was able to take back ground the enemy had stolen. They were able to declare that God is God of the Breakthrough. So David came to Baal-perazim and defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore he named that place Baal-perazim (2 Sam. 5:20).

Destiny has a time for fulfillment. Great courage will be needed as we embrace our destiny. These are days when we will see new enemies. Old war strategies and independent spirits will not be able to stand against these enemies. A synergistic alliance of powerful visionary ministries is emerging as a Davidic Army for the new season. They are anointed for powerful breakthroughs in cities, territories and nations. Their testimony proclaims that “Jesus is God of the Breakthrough!”
