I hate violence, and I will probably choose not to see Mel Gibson's depiction of the last hours of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, I highly respect the opinion of Dr. James Dobson, who has seen it, and who thinks that it represents an accurate representation of what is narrated in the gospels.

Of course, the person who stated that Gibson devoted only twelve seconds to Jesus' resurrection might have a point. There are many positive post resurrections scenes depicted in the Gospels, I wonder if these were included. If they were not, then a golden opportunity might have been missed. Maybe a sequel is in order.

I went this weekend and saw the movie, and YES there is a LOT of blood in the movie, and some things didn't make sense to me being an Adventist myself; since then I have looked up the scenes in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and surprisingly the movie is mostly accurate on what he suffered through. Jesus was beaten at least 6 times (maybe more) before he even carried his cross. No human could have withstood the sufferings he went through, but Jesus had a mission to fulfill, and he got through it all and accomplished his mission.
You should have seen and heard the people in the theatre crying throughout the movie. It might be a Catholic type of movie, but the younger people who have never seen the classics like "The Ten Commandments" and such, need to know how Jesus died. The younger generation might have heard all of their lives about how and why Jesus died, but when my own 19 year old son saw it he was in tears before it was over, and he told me, it was like seeing Jesus' death in a different light, it made it more personal to him.
I would not recommend that younger children see it, it is quite graphic, but in a good way, it shows what he most likely experienced for us to be saved.
Every religious movie made so far has contradictions in it. That doesn't make it a bad movie. I think this movie was good. I wasn't focused on the "devil and the baby" or Mary, I was focused on Jesus.
Every movie or show is just someone's belief or opinion about that subject. The world would be a boring place if everyone thought alike.
The movie does have the capabilty to bring people to Jesus Christ. That can't be all bad. The movie has it's good and bad points, but in the end if it brings people to the Lord, that should be what counts.
