The Corinthians (historically) were a young church, and were growing well but getting into problems through sexual immorality and women shouting and being unruly in the church. Paul addressed all of these problems in his letters and set the standard. However, concerning marriage, Paul wrote in his letter to Timothy:

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Tim. 4:1-5.
But it's Biblical to take either the road of chastity or marriage:

But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. 1Cor.7:9, 28.

There are many fundamentals and evangelicals who foolishly take every word that Apostle Paul stated as inspired of God even though Paul stated on occassion it was his own opinion and that includes about not being married. I don't subscribe to the idea that Apostle Paul after the death of Jesus became the new messiah and all of his words are God breathed! And the hypocrisy of this teaching is shown in the fact that Apostle Paul wrote alot about speaking in tongues including I wish you all spoke in tongues. And most of the religious ones who say that the bible is the inspired word of God don't speak in tongues even though Paul told them too?
The bible states He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD and this truth doesn't change because some idiot has a different opinion!
