Hi,
Daniel 11 is not only the longest and the most complex of all of Daniel’s prophecies, but it is also the most fascinating as far as research is concerned. There is a line of truth evident from Daniel 2 to Daniel 12. It has more than mere 45 verses for it should be taken as the body of the compound unit chs. 10-12. I believe chapter 10 is the Introduction; 11 is the Body and 12 is the Conclusion. While there are still plenty of different views even in the Remnant Church, the great majority of today’s Adventist Expositors believe the King of the North or last power of Daniel 11 to be the Papacy. That was not the case with the pioneers (with a few exception) who believe the King of the North to be Turkey. The non-Adventist world seemed to have accepted an Antiochus Epiphanes model for the N. King.

Another problem within Adventism has been whether the French Revolution has a key featured role in vss. 36-40. G.M.Price believed that vss. 36-40 should be understood as meaning the Papacy and not a description of the French Revolution/Atheistic France. This view is mostly accepted today in the church. For example this can be found in William H. Shea’s ‘Daniel 7-12’.

I have a few questions to ask my fellow friends that can confirm/improve/criticize my personal belief concerning Daniel 11 esp. the last 5 verses.

1. What is the power involved in Daniel 11:36-40? It is a blasphemous-religious power like the Papacy or it is an Atheistic-God’s Denied Power like Atheistic France? What are the reasons to reject the opponent’s view? I believe that both views can be accepted at FIRST GLANCE. Roy A. Anderson has prepared a list of reasons to reject the Papacy-view in his book UNFOLDING DANIEL PROPHECIES. One very interesting one is the fact that the power is introduced as a “new” one.
2. What is “the god regarded by woman” (Net Bible)? Almost most versions make it clear that the Hebrew is taking about the “god that women love” (Daniel 11:37, GNB) I believe there is too little research on this term as used in Daniel 11:37?
3. What about the Triangular view which set the “him” of verse 40 to be a different entity from the “king of the north”? This view is about both Kings working together against the Papacy or the “him” of verse 40, that is there are 3 parties instead of just 2?
4. What is the glorious land in vss. 40-45? Is is the United States of America or simply the Remnant Church? People who firmly believe in Jesuit Infiltration of Protestant Churches including the SDA Church believe that it is a prophecy about the infiltration of the Remnant Church by Jeusuit Agents. Jeff Pippenger in his book TIME OF THE END present us with such quotation from the SOP describing USA as a land as “an asylum for God’s people,” “over which for long years the shield of Omnipotent has been spread,” “the land which God has favored,” “the depository of the pure religion of Christ.” (See pp. 23-26 ST June 12,1898) Could this mean the USA as the Glorious Land?
5. Does Islam has a prominent role in the end-time scenario of 11:40-45 as Ted Noel indicated in an article on Daniel 11? I understand that Islam is not mentioned elsewhere as having a key role in the previous prophetic unit, except in the understanding of the Reformers who believe Islam is the Horn from Littleness of Daniel 8. Samuele Bacchiochi has revived this interpretation in one of his newsletter.

I believe that people who has/have studied Daniel 11 will surely provide me and others with the needful information that will permit me and others to have a better understanding of this fascinating prophecy. God Bless you All. Nicolas MARIE.
