I recently had a very important prayer answered and I was able to gain custody of a child I've been raising since he was one-year-old. Many other people were praying for us.
Has anyone read anything in the scriptures that indicates that prayer for others has an effect?
Sure. Jesus taught that the power of prayer is incomprehensibly great and is without limits.
"Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." John 16:24.
But there are conditions.
1 John 3:22
"And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight."
Matthew 21:22
"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
Mark 11:24
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."
James 4:3
"You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures."
