Dear Brethren,
Jesus' power to save, is His power to heal. Rom. 1:16 has dunamis, strength, (From whence we get the word Dynamite) and salvation is soterion a Greek word meaning not merely to save but to heal. Many of us have seen some sickly looking person walking along the road and come into the Church. Not too long after, we have notice how bright and healed he looks. That, is the power of the gospel to save and heal.

It is called "The other testimony of Jesus" vis What His people say about Him. Sis. White was always testifying about Jesus. Maybe we have forgotten that we should also.

Tongues: The late Ron Wyatt was arrested in Arabia and when being interrogated, had occassian to answer a question with the words, "Because every true prophet believes every other true prophet." Asked where he learned that, he replied "It was in the T.V. the other night." One of his interrogaters chipped in with, "But you don't understand Arabic." "That thing was in Arabic." Only then did he realise that he had understood a completely foreign language. Certainly he did not understood anything else on that station at the time.
There is an example of "Tongues."

Ron was looking for Mount Siniai - the real one, and had found it. He also found the sites of the crossing by the Hebrews of the Red Sea. The Arabs denied that there were any archeological sites in Arabia, and asked him to show them, which he did.
It is of interest that, on their way to Mount Siniai they got lost, and they asked a bedouin riding a camel. He said, "Oh, Moses mountain?" "That's it over there."
How do I know it is true? Because a friend of mine went to Egypt and found the marker on the Egyptian side.
Sincerely,
Ross

The story about the Vietnamese lady is 100% on target. That is precisely how tongues were experienced in the book of Acts -- that when the gospel was preached in the midst of many folks of differing nationalities and origins, each heard the good news in his or her own native tongue.

The "prayer language" stuff is technically referred to as glossolalia. Among typically uneducated folk where this is practiced as supposedly indicative of the reception of the Holy Spirit, the syllables tend to be nonsense and would not hold up as constituting a genuine language by the rules of linguistics. By contrast, a more "sophisticated" form of glossolalia is commonly evidenced during occult operations (trancing, scrying, and the like) and viewed in such circles as a valid form of "transmission", that is, as a message from the spirit realm. These manifestations DO pass the rules of linguistics whether they are an "unknown tongue" (also referred to as Enochian and beginning in the 16th century with John Dee and Edward Kelly, documented as a language in its own right) or a conglomerate polyglot of known languages.

These "transmissions" are interpreted by pattern-matching in cross-cultural etymological phoneme-associations, gematria, and translation of various fragments recognized to be actual Hebrew, Chaldean, Greek, Latin, Gaelic, Sanskrit, or whatever by those familiar with these languages. It cannot be interpreted immediately; it must be analyzed carefully to extract its meaning. Such communications, of course, contain ideas, instructions, and guidance not in harmony with the Word of God. (Consider the source!)

The "holy roller" version of glossolalia compares to the occult version like a little child chanting "ching chang dong" in mimicry compares to her older sister's exquisite mastery of fluent Mandarin Chinese. Yet both have their origin in common: in delusion.

And neither have anything to do with the true Biblical gift of tongues as recorded in the book of Acts.

Unless you have received the gift of speaking in tongues, I don't think there is any way you understand it. I received it 32 years ago and I am glad no one told me what I should do to reiceve it or that it wasn't for me today. I only had Acts 2 and I knew it was for me. A precious gift . Those who say I am possesed are right but by God not by Satan...I bowed on my knees and asked God for his spirit and immediately started speaking in tongues. I was awe struck and then he spoke to me...and said...I am "ABBA" which I found later to mean Father....believe it or not. it is of course your choice...it gave me the power to die for him if called upon to do so. I know beyound a doubt that he is real....

It is never good to try and explain something to someone if you haven't experienced it...That is just like the blind leading the blind...

Just my humble opinion and not meant to cause anyone grief.
