The apostle Paul prayed a wonderful prayer for the Ephesians (Ephesians 3:14-21). An answer to this prayer would fulfill the deepest desire of my inner being.

Paul wrote:

“I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

I need to behold this great vision. I would like to enumerate every principle of God’s love.

I realize that the love that surpasses knowledge may be difficult to specify but I think that the potential benefits are absolutely infinite. If you would like to contribute your favorite and most moving and inspiring thoughts of godly love—at least one item that impresses you most profoundly—I would be very appreciative.

I suppose that everyone is deeply moved by the apostle Paul’s thoughts on love:

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

“Behold how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God.” 1 John 3:1.

Good morning Eugene

My first post here. One of my favorite subjects to talk about. The Love that the Father Has for His children 1 John 3:1 is the reveling of John 3:16. God So Loved. God said that we are the apple of His eye. The eye is the most sensitive part of our body. In God telling us that we are the apple of His eye He is saying that he will go to great measure to protect us. That there is nothing that he will not do to protect us (The apple of His eye.) Now if this does not give you great comfort then there is nothing that will be able to comfort you. Just think! The God of creation loves us so much that He calls us His children. We as His children need to learn all about this great love that our Father has for us. WE need to not only have a head knowledge of this but we need to let it fill our heart to over flowing. We need to ask ourselves every day when we get up, do you know that God loves you to day? If the answer to that is yes then we can start the day with the full assurance that that their is nothing that can happen to me this day that will harm me. Praise God. For greater is He that is in me then he that is in the world.
