According to Christian doctrine, salvation from the penalty of sin is granted to any believing Christian, and such salvation is made possible by their sins being atoned for. Also according to Christian doctrine, the penalty for sin is eternal death, which according to Seventh Day Adventism is eternal nonexistence. So, the question is, WHO UNDERWENT ETERNAL DEATH TO PAY FOR THE SINS OF ADVENTISTS?
Now we are talking about eternal death, not a few days in the grave and then come back to life. This is an atonement, is it not? Someone must take the place of the adventist and hense must pay the full penalty or the adventists sin haven't been paid for. Think about it. Thousands of adventists have been dead for years, and the apostles have been dead for about 2000 years. If three days in the grave was sufficient to pay for their sins, then they more than paid for such sins themselves. |

8Ninety,
You misunderstand Christian doctrine. How could a sinner pay for his sin with something he doesnt legally own? The life of a created being belongs to the Creator. Its obvious that a sinner cant pay the requirement of a Holy Gods justice and wrath against sin. If there is an atonement, it must come from God Himself.
Your greatest error is in thinking that your existence is equal in worth to that of the Son of God. Common sense says that an insect existence doesnt compare with that of a human. What makes you think that the life of the infinite Creator is only equal to one finite creature?
Its true that justice demands the life of the sinner. Its also clear from Scripture that Christs perfect life, His trials and suffering in the world and His supernatural anguish on the cross, resulting in death, is a sufficient atonement to save sinners.
Jesus Christ ranks much higher on the scale of being than many suppose. See Exactly How Equal is Jesus Christ to the Father God? |
