i was baptised young and i understood to a certain degree what it meant but then i went through a period of only giving the bible lip service and not following the teaching. but now i left my old ways and have rededicated my life for jesus. now i was whatching 3ABN and i just happened upon a sermon about baptism and i heard that if you were baptised and go back into the world then come back to jesus you should get baptised again.

The word Anabaptist means "re-baptizer." Catholics used to drown (and sometimes burn) Anabaptists for not being content with infant baptism and for being baptized a second time. That makes the doctrine of rebaptism ethical. There is no significant difference between "babes in Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:1) and real infants. That makes rebaptism reasonable.
A Scriptural lesson on rebaptism is found in Acts 19:1-5:
Quote:
While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"
They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."
So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?"
"John's baptism," they replied.
Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:1-5.
The necessary faith-education and resulting conversion experience of these "disciples" was lacking. So they were rebaptized. The result was positive. "When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. There were about twelve men in all." Acts 19:6-7.

any thoughts on this?
You only have to baptized once. For christ himself, only offer himself once to delivery us.
