Many of us come to a flash-point in our lives were we find we must search for 'the truth'. Something keeps ticking away inside us, driving us on. Some auto-danger signal inside our minds that keeps 'ringing alarm bells'. We don't realise it and we don't acknowledge it most times. For most of the time we stumble blindly in the dark with momentary flashes of light but not enough to act as a beacon. We can Kufr(verb of Kafir) - meaning we can cover over the truth /light" but the warning sign is always there "Danger, Danger, Son of Adam - Judgement Day approaching".
Most people who visit Islamic sites seem to be genuine caring souls searching for 'the truth'. Most have an elementary understanding of Islam and have more than likely browsed through the Qur'an.
But perhaps you didn't notice the opening address -
In fact, as for those who reject Faith; it is the same, whether you warn them or you don't, they will not believe. Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing and their eyes are covered and there is a grievous punishment for them. Surat Al-Baqarah 2.6-7
This is the part we need to consider.....
"Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing and their eyes are covered..."
If you are indeed truthful and genuine about wanting to know the 'truth' and have come seeking enlightenment then you must first ask God to 'unseal' you. But be warned, do not do as others have done and ask Jesus or Buddha etc.
Go into your bedroom and shut the door, get down on your knees and put your forehead on the ground (like a slave does before his king in the movies)
and say.....
O'Allah(God).....I am a son of Adam
And I come seeking the truth
If heaven and hell be true
I do not want to be counted amongst the losers
Please 'unseal' me
And show me the truth
And make my paths straight.
Ameen.
Practice this and recite it over and over. You know its true. Seek and ye shall find. Ask and the seal will be opened.
May Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful, Lord of all the Worlds and all creation guide you to the straight path.
What makes Muslims so confident that the Qur'an is God’s word and that the Christian Bible is not?
Do good Muslims ever read the Christian Bible? How do they regard the testimony of Jesus and the Apostles?
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). John asked, “Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son” (1 John 2:22).

I myself and thousands upon thousands like me are 'reverts' - (converted from christianity to Islam). However I would prefer to leave it to someone more qualified to answer your questions.

Muslim Fails Sobriety Test
Red Camel,
If you converted from Christianity to Mohammedianity and don’t know within yourself why the Koran is God’s word and why the Christian Bible is not, then I must question your sobriety.
You started your thread in our teaching forum: Midheaven: “Beginner topics and the big picture of religious ideas easily explained.” Dzien asked you a few very simple questions. You have no answers to his simple questions.
I believe it’s a great affront for someone to profess to be a religious teacher when they obviously are not. What’s the penalty for that in Islam? Public beatings, a hasty execution, prison time or what? I don’t know anything for sure about Islamic law, but on this forum you have to be able to impact others with intelligent, thoughtful dialogue.
Firstly, I was unaware of your rules regarding where one should place a particular thread. My reason for referring to others for those questions was this....
With the coming of the final revealed book of God, The Qur'an, truth has banished falsehood. Isn't this what Jesus (Peace and blessings upon him) told you something like 'He who comes after me will lead you into all truth?'
Didn't Jesus (Peace and blessings upon him) warn that even our thoughts will be taken down and used against us on judement Day? An example from the Sermon on the Mount would be something like 'if you even think naughty thoughts of a woman you are guilty of adultery. And similar for theft and so on.
In the Qur'an the final warning is.....
We created man, We know the prompting of his soul, and We are closer to him than his jugular vein. Besides this direct knowledge ,We have assigned to every one two scribes (guardian angels), the one seated on his right and the other on his left, not a single word does he utter but there is a vigilant guardian ready to note it down. Sura Qaf 50.16-18
We must be ever vigilant as to what our tongues send forward to Judgement Day. So rather than mislead I chose to nominate more qualified people....being ex-priests and preachers. Is faith so fragile that one has to block his ears to their testimonials, lest some light creep in?
You will find a common theme in all muslim converts stories. Christianity is in reality Paulinity. Compare the Sermon on the Mount and similar with Paul. Two opposite religions. Jesus said 'By Works', Paul said 'Faith'. Jesus said not one dot of the law wil be changed. Paul said we are outside the law. Why does one choose to follow Paul? It's easy. If one believes that Jesus is "God" why discredit him by saying he was incompetent? Why accept a licensed killer who gives three different accounts of that 'Road to Damascus' thing where all christians have put their faith. This one scene is your faith. This is where you are betting your soul. You have traded effort for ease. Faith for falsehood. Hence why I offered a reminder to talk again with God.
Satan's job is to whisper to people to ignore the 'warning-bell' that keeps ringing in one's head and heart. Jesus (Peace and blessings upon him) came to steer the Jews back to obeying God. And to snuff out the reminder that Jesus (Peace and blessings upon him) brought, Satan used Paul to again take the focus away from God and re-aligned it on Jesus (Peace and blessings upon him), and take all obedience away from God's Laws.
All I have asked you to do is again talk with God. I am not asking you to do anything contrary to what Jesus taught you about prayer. Ask God he said. To whom is the Lord's Prayer addressed? Seek and ye shall find. Ask and the seal will be opened.

If you can’t speak out of your own religious experience, then it’s likely that you don’t have an experience with God but just a theory.

The Qur'an has not banished falsehood. Islam is full of falsehood. You profess to have converted from Christianity and now you’re suggesting with a blindness I never thought was imaginable, that that Jesus spoke of the leading of the Holy Spirit as some sort of insane prophecy about Mohammed?
There is no connection between Mohammed and the Holy Spirit. Anyone who suggests that John 16:5-15 may be a prophecy about Mohammed is proving how far away from the Spirit of Truth they truly are.
Quote:
Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, “Where are you going?” Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. John 16:5-15.
Islam seems to inspire their followers with astonishing ignorance and at the same time requiring unbounded credulity.

Shalohm Red Camel,
Do know the history of the Qur'an? The Qur'an was developed by Muhammed sometime during the early part of 300 AD. Muhammed was a descendant of one of the waring tribes of Arabia. During the 3rd century he set out to spead his beliefs upon the entire Middle East by the use of force. Anyone who refused to follow what he preached was exterminated. Now, you need to understand this, the Torah and the Christian New Testiment both predate the Qur'an. The Torah By thousands of years and the New Testiment by hundreds. Muhammed, refused to believe that the Jews were the people that God intended to use, to bring the world to the knowledge of him. So, he chose to reject the Torah as God's inspired word, and since the New Testiment is based on the Torah, he chose to reject that also. Among other things, he lead his followers to believe that it was Ishmael, not Issac who was entitled to the inheritence of Abraham. This was not the way God intended it.
Therefore, it is my belief, that the Qur'an is a nice book written by a man who forced his beliefs upon many thousands of people. Although it contains some truth, it is mixed with just enough errors to make it believeable to some people. Consiter the Prophecies that have been fulfilled in the Torah. Tell me the prophecies that have been fulfilled in the Qur'an and then we will compare the two. I speak the truth, only in love. Bless you in Yeshua H'Mashiach

I have recently sat back and noticed that the “alarm bells”, if watched closely seem to be coming from without, rather than within me. From my earliest memories I have been carefully taught by MEN to search for and try to please “God”. This prodded journey has taken me from Lutheran Christian to Christian Jehovah’s Witness to a very serious and intense study of Islam and now to agnosticism bordering on atheism, where the external alarm bells have turned into internal bells peeling joy and liberation.
As a “wise man” once stated (several times), “all is vanity and a striving after the wind”; and my ‘lying’ eyes confirm the fact that he was correct.
After the Biblical background and then the study of Islam and it’s early history, I am convinced that neither has/is the work or word of God.
If you would indulge one Biblical example: Cain & Able. God speaks directly to the ‘unfavored one ', does not speak to, warn or protect the one that pleased him, and then, after speaking again to the murderer, sends the murderer on his merry way to live and reproduce his questionably moral DNA.
As to the Qur’an, I find it a real stretch in believability to accept that the Angel Gabriel dictated that information to an illiterate caravan guard – merchant agent (by the way, how can a merchant’s agent be illiterate??). I do not trust the memory and motives of the ‘prophet’s companions’, and consider all to be the imaginings of MEN. For digression’s sake I was going to state that this was not an insult to gender, but on further reflection, the facts of Islam are foundationally gender biased – making life as degrading and miserable as possible for women.
The whole histories of both religions are bathed in human blood. If there is a powerful God, he can do his own murdering for his own reasons without human ‘agents’.
I find my life much more meaningful and enjoyable in the moment by not having to worry about the ‘afterlife’, which will take care of itself, or not.
Sort of like my Labrador retriever, every day is new and wonderful and an adventure; my heart joyful to meet and greet known friend and unknown stranger alike. This life, to me, is heaven.
