Eugene, this is the response that I got when I forwarded your message to the
GCO list which is owned by Pastor Larry Kirkpatrick:

"Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And
bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets
of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table." 1 Kings 18:19.

This is an official request. You are hereby invited and duly served to come to
Mount Carmel to wrestle with the evidence reported there that the Seventh-day
Adventist church has been fraternizing with Sudanese terrorists.

[Gcolist] BANNED LIST TOPICS REVISED
gcolist@greatcontroversy.org -- gcolist@greatcontroversy.org
Tue Nov 19 20:48:05 2002

Here's the current list of BANNED topics:
1. The Trinity/Godhead
2. The personality of the Holy Spirit
3. Tithe
4. Eugene Shubert and related spiritual quackery

Remember our goal:
GreatControversy.org: A positive place on the web for the third angel's
message. Kooks need not apply. If you are a kook, you may as well leave the
list now. The last thing the third angel's message needs now is to be
discredited by kooks. Note that this list has been a lot more fun since we jettisoned some of its unusual members, (which have included false prophets!). Violation of the banned items will cause instant removal from the list.

Project: Many presently on the list have weathered the challenging times when unusual persons harassed the list. Could we construct a composite fingerprint for identifying the "unusual person" style on the list? I suppose it would have two components, an objective measure (the kinds of things kooks say or the ways they consistently behave), and a subjective one (less easily defined but still helpful as yellow flags). Please note that we are not saying an unusual person is of less value than another, just that there are certain defects in their
interpersonal interaction that disrupt constructive engagement and discussion amongst us. I would say that for starters, they often display by concrete behaviors:
A. Disregard for list rules or moderator authority
B. Disregard for other list members
C. A propensity to attack authority figures
D. Taunting or sarcastic spirit
E. Instead of getting closer to other list members it is getting close
to the edges of what is permitted
F. Usually has some hobby-horse issue that they can't let go of.
G. Rigidity
Obviously many of the above are quite interrelated, or even multiple ways of saying the same thing.

The following link gives some markers for psycho-pathology. While I am no advocate of any particular positive position toward psychotherapy or
psychiatry, I can certainly say I am continually educated about the destructive nature of the mentally damaged. I receive several emails from strange creatures claiming to be prophets, sometimes for days in a row. I have observed an extraordinary pattern where these people totally refuse to respect any boundary. They seem to think no rules apply to them. When you set an interpersonal boundary they refuse to respect it. I even just had one recently who I finally asked to quit contacting me. I blocked his email. What happens? A few days later I receive in the mail from Colorado the email I had blocked. These people cannot take "no" for an answer. If you want to know something
about what markers the experts have come up with, for whatever it's worth, check the link:
It will take a few minutes to load. Don't be surprised if you immediately recognize some of the behaviors you have seen on the web, or on this or other email lists. Just as the internet empowers you and I, it empowers the deranged. I recognize that these ideas may seem offensive to some, but we are in the real world here. What people do matters. GO and review the EGW compilation on fanaticism and see how STRONGLY she opposed it. The mentally troubled are usually foremost in promoting fanaticism.
