I had been close to a woman married to a minister of an Assembly Of God church. She was my childhood friend but when her husband found out he forbid her from any contact with me. He treatened to tell their daughter and it was way too much for her to take. I email her always but she cannot reply back. She has been brainwashed again by this person/church. He is a manipulator and a tyrant.
I care not as much that I cannot "talk" to her as much as I know he's always been this person and will always control her.
Is this what these people are? Is this what this chruch teaches?
To manipulate, threaten? I think so based upon this man.
I was brought up by my mother as a Baptist. But my religion would ever condem this.
I feel this church is bad-very bad. And if this is what they pronounce then it's a cult...

Define close in this instance?

Just friends? Writing every day?

I realize it seems harsh but if a guy was writing my wife every day I would put a stop to it too. And it has nothing to do with my particular denomination, but with the notion that the husband/wife relationship is to be closer than any other. God made the two one flesh.

The world is full of affairs that started out innocently enough. Close friendships between opposite sex members can in fact be problematic. And if there was evidence in this case that it was, then he was well within his rights.

I am sorry that you feel this was unreasonable in his case. We really don't have all the facts, and even if we did get all of them from your side, we don't know how much your judgement is clouded from emotions.

It may be that he was too harsh. But we have no way to judge that.

But reading into it that our whole system of belief is bad is a rather quick judgement.

Maybe I have let my emotions get the best of me. I cannot condem anyone for I am not blameless. I was just caught in the middle and now have lost a very dear friendship because of it all...

You cannot judge a whole denomination on the basis of one person.
