By the way, I've finally figured out where that picture of the grid with the clocks comes from!

Page 18 of Spacetime Physics by Taylor and Wheeler 1963 San Francisco.

Incredible: I had to dust off both my memory, and the book itself.

Archie Wheeler's earliest attempt at explaining SRT to physics students in the form of a supplimentary text.

Good. Now stop using it as a dsitraction to make it seem like you know what you're talking about.

Try to understand my position.

I have been practising engineering for nearly 30 years, and I have achieved significant breakthroughs and mastered many subjects.

I have watched people try to 'explain' both Special and General Relativity for almost 40 years. I have seen how opinions have changed and how 'paradoxes' have come and gone.

I have seen how hysterical extremists have defended relativity, and others attack it, and I have seen how 'airtight' proofs for relativity have turned out to be far less convincing and far less important than they were claimed to be.

At this point in time, relativity is no further ahead really than it was in the 60s, and most of the greats who at least understood some of the higher mathematics and the philosophical consequences have died or retired.

Where are we now? Relativity is a mathematical convenience, perhaps even more than that. One can sustain a relatively self-consistent system for doing alot of calculations. But it no longer even matters whether you believe in 'relativity' any more than whether you believe in 'evolution'.

Those arguments and the political and social issues at stake aren't even important to this generation of scientists. People just don't give a damn about either relativity or evolution.

The most important thing the educated world can do at this time (the 21st century) is to drop the arguments of yesteryear and get to what is going to save us from immanent Armageddon, caused by the gigantic Military Industrial Complex and the private club of International Corporations who are turning our world into a giant toilet and concentration camp.

Scientists supporting 'evolution' or any other ideological prop for cracked agendas of exploitation and domination along racial lines need to abandon their cherished garbage by recognizing it as the garbage that it is, perpetuating an elitist class system of exploitation that grinds poor people into the ground and treats everyone like animals.

Its your world. Stop the crap. Or live in it.

I don't care what you think the relevant problems of the world are. SR is unequivocally correct and there are no flaws in the math. It's validity has been borne out by a multitude of experimental evidence. The way it is taught to students in phsycis classes is fine. Relativity hasn't progressed much in the last few decades because there's nothing else to discover. We know SR inside and out, period. GR is another matter but is a far more complicated theory which so far has no problems, either with itself or with experimental evidence. Whether or not oridnary citizens want to learn the details of either of these theories is irrelevant. People who don't believe in evolution are either stupid or brainwashed (unfortunately, this is a large portion of our country). Similarly, people who don't believe in relativity either don't understand it, or honestly believe it is a joke when they first hear it, or are determined to undermine it for their own selfish fanfare coming from some idiots on the WWW. Relativity is true, period.
