Something here that has been stated indirectly and I would like to clarify:
Genesis 2:7: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Notice, it does not say, "And man recieved a living soul", but rather, "And man became a living soul". What enabled him to become a living soul? "God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life".
In other words, BREATH + LIFE = LIVING SOUL.
This also explains the following text on death, which is the reverse process of how man was created:
Ecclesiastes 12:7: "and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it."
This would also explain why after death we don't believe "souls" go to heaven, because if you don't have breath and life together, you don't have a soul. It's like egg and sperm. When they're not together, there's no zygote. _________________ Blah, blah, blah... I'll get a real signature when I have more time. |
