A COMPARISON BETWEEN THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES AND THE SEVEN TRUMPET JUDGMENTS

Seven Trumpet Blasts

Seven Last Plagues

Earth

"And the first angel sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burnt up, and all the green grass was burnt up" (8:7).

"And the first angel went and poured out his vial into the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore upon the men who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image" (16:1-2).

Sea

"And the second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood; and a third of the creatures, which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed" (8:8).

"And the second angel poured out his vial into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man; and every living thing in the sea died" (16:3).

Rivers

"And the third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters; and the name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter" (8:10-11).

"And the third angel poured out his vial into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood" (16:4-7).

Heavens

"And the fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were smitten, so that a third of them might be darkened and the day might not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way" (8:12-13).

"And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with fierce heat" (16:8-9).

Torment

"And the fifth angel sounded, and locusts came upon the earth from the bottomless pit, and power was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were told to hurt only those who do not have the seal of God. They were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment for five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man. Men will long to die but death will flee from them" (9:1-12).

"And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the throne of the beast; and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain, and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores" (16:10-11).

Euphrates

"And the sixth angel sounded, and four angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates were released, so that they might kill a third of mankind" (9:13-21).

"And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and its water was dried up, that the way might be prepared for the kings from the east" (16:12-16).

The Summation

"And the seventh angel sounded; and there arose loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and He will reign forever and ever. And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm" (11:15-19).

"And the seventh angel poured out his vial upon the air; and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, ‘It is done.’ And there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe" (16:17-21).
