The Directive From The Pontiff To His Legate

"The instructions communicated by the pontiff to this official were as follows:—

" ‘We charge you to compel Shubert to appear before you in person; to prosecute and reduce him to submission without delay, as soon as you shall have received this our order, he having already been declared a heretic by our dear brother Alfred, Bishop of Asculan.’ * ‘If he should return to a sense of his duty, and ask pardon for so great an offense, freely and of his own accord, we give you power to receive him into the unity of the holy mother church.’ ‘If he should persist in his stubbornness, and you fail to get possession of his person, we give you power to proscribe him in all places in Germany; to put away, curse, and excommunicate all those who are attached to him, and to enjoin all Christians to shun his society.’

"The pope goes still farther, and calls upon his legate, in order entirely to root out the pestilent heresy, to excommunicate all, of whatever dignity in church or State except the emperor, who shall ‘neglect to seize the said Martin Luther and his adherents, and send them to you under proper and safe authority.’

"Here is displayed the true spirit of Romanism. Not a trace of Christian principle, or even of common justice, is to be seen in the whole document. Luther is at a great distance from Rome; he has had no opportunity to explain or defend his position; yet before his case has been investigated, he is summarily pronounced a heretic, and in the same day, exhorted, accused, judged, and condemned; and all this by the self-styled holy father, the only supreme, infallible authority in church or State! The spirit of the dragon, ‘that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan,’ is seen in this transaction. Notwithstanding his cunning, he has in his rage forgotten to be wise." — Signs of the Times, June 28, 1883.

Those Who Will Not Practice The Lessons Of Christ... Find In Antichrist The Center Of Their Union

"Men are taking sides, according to their choice. These that are feeding on the Word of God will show this by their practice; they are on the Lord’s side, seeking by precept and example to reform the world. All that have refused to be taught of God hold the traditions of men. They at last pass over on the side of the enemy, against God, and are written, Antichrist. The people of God, who understand our position in this world’s history, are, with ears open and hearts softened and subdued, pressing together in unity, one with Jesus Christ. Those who will not practice the lessons of Christ, but keep themselves in hand, to mold themselves, find in Antichrist the center of their union. While the two parties stand in collision, the Lord will appear, and shine before His ancients gloriously. He will set up a kingdom that shall stand forever." 20MR 113.

The Meaning of Antichrist to Be Understood

"Those who become confused in their understanding of the Word, who fail to see the meaning of antichrist, will surely place themselves on the side of antichrist." 7BC 949.

The Meaning of the Mark of the Beast to Be Understood

‘To receive the mark of the beast means to come to the same decision as the beast has done, and to advocate the same ideas, in direct opposition to the Word of God.’ 7T 979.

"The crisis is just before us. The fierce conflict of mind with mind, of principle with principle, of truth with error, which is fast approaching, and which has already begun, calls for constant vigilance. This world is the great field where the last battle is to be fought. Now every man who is on the Lord’s side will come up to the battle of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty, and the walls of antichrist shall fall before the Captain of the Lord’s host. Then let not the chosen of God be found in opposition to the messengers and messages He sends; but let the ability and tact of every soul, by all Scriptural and holy means, be employed to give greater efficiency and strength in the aggressive warfare—not against brethren, not against the Lord’s anointed—but against the Satanic agencies that they must meet." 1888, p. 1038.

Antichrist Means, All Who Exalt Themselves Against The Will And Work Of God

"The greater man’s influence for good, under the control of the Spirit of God, the more determined will be the enemy to indulge his envy and jealousy toward him by religious persecution. But all heaven is on the side of Christ, not of Antichrist. Those who love God and are willing to be partakers with Christ in His sufferings, God will honor. Antichrist, meaning all who exalt themselves against the will and work of God, will at the appointed time feel the wrath to Him who gave Himself that they might not perish but have eternal life. All who persevere in obedience, all who will not sell their souls for money or for the favor of men, God will register in the book of life." 7BC 950.

The Work of Antichrist is Clear

"God never forces the will or the conscience; but Satan’s constant resort—to gain control of those whom he cannot otherwise seduce—is compulsion by cruelty. Through fear or force he endeavors to rule the conscience and to secure homage to himself. To accomplish this, he works through both religious and secular authorities, moving them to the enforcement of human laws in defiance of the law of God." GC 591.

"Christ has said, ‘If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.’ There is no greater evidence that Satan is working than that those who profess to be sanctified to God’s service persecute their fellow beings because they do not believe the same doctrine that they themselves believe." RH, Dec. 28, 1897.

Those who imitate the historic antichrist are worshipping the historic antichrist.

Imitation Is The Sincerest Form Of Flattery. Flattery Is Praise And Praise Is Worship.

We are not to worship the antichrist power.
