In Sermons and Talks Volume Two, page 331, there is a very interesting insight
by Ellen G. White that Ive never heard discussed before.
quote:
[Jer. 36:1-7, quoted.] This chapter is a record of historical events that will be
repeated. Let all who desire to receive warning, read carefully. [Jer.36:22,23,27,28,32,
quoted.]
I understand this to be a prophecy primarily about Seventh-day Adventists. Do you see
it the same way?
Im very willing to receive correction if Im wrong but is the spirit of
opposition to reproof that led to the persecution and imprisonment of Jeremiah in the
Adventist church today? Are fulfillments of the prophecy taking place now? Please read Prophets
and Kings, pages 432-437. Are there faithful Adventists who cannot go into the
house of the Lord because they share reasonable messages of judgment? (Jer. 36:1-5).
And like the burning of a scroll, do church appointed leaders delete certain respectable
messages from the official church forum as quickly as they are posted? (Jer. 36:23). Or
does the prophecy demand the actual burning of a message written on paper? If the whole
chapter (Jer 36) is a record of historical events that will be repeated (but only in
principle), then how might we recognize its fulfillment? And finally, which details do you
think are essential for the complete fulfillment of the prophecy and why?
